Animal Licenses

Animal License Application

The City of Renton requires that all dogs and cats aged four months and older be licensed. The license must be on the animal at all times. Licenses are renewed annually. Reminders will be mailed when it is time to renew. City residents 62 and over, who meet the income qualifications set forth in Section 8-5-15D and E and Section 8-4-31C of the City Code, shall be entitled to purchase a special permanent animal license. The one-time licenses may not be transferred.

How to Get a Pet License

Print a copy of the animal license application and mail to Animal License Services.  Application forms are also available at Renton City Hall, Finance Department 1st Floor or Renton Community Center.

A certificate from a veterinarian is required to prove the animal has been altered. For more information, please call 425.430.6850.

Licensing is a very important step in helping to protect your pet. A lost animal has only one way to communicate where its home is located. Our goal is to make the responsibility of licensing a dog or cat as easy and economical as possible.
