2009 Adult Summer Reading Program
To help adults get in on the action, this year the library is sponsoring an Adult Summer Reading Program. Participating in the program is as easy as reading and can fit into any busy schedule. Below are descriptions and instructions for the two ways to take part in the program and be entered to win any of several prizes.
Summer Reading Photography Contest
To encourage people to express their love of reading, we are inviting our users to take photos of themselves or their friends and family sharing books and submit them to the library. Photos can be of people sharing books with anyone in their life in any creative way they choose. Photos and release forms can be turned in at the libraries or emailed to the librarians. At the end of the summer, staff will choose their favorites and award special prizes.
1. Take a picture of your family and friends sharing books. You can share books with your parents or with your grandchildren, niece or nephew, brother or sister, neighbor, friend, or even your dog! There are many ways to share books...be creative!
2. Fill out the entry form/photo release and make sure the subjects of the photo (or their parents/guardians if minors) have signed the form.
3. Pictures should be in either print or digital format and can be delivered to the library in several ways. Turn in the picture at either library branch, mail them to the main library ATTN: Photo Contest, or email digital photos to the librarians. For emailed photos, don't forget to mail in or drop off the photo release form as it is REQUIRED.
4. We will use our favorites to decorate the library during our summer of reading. Grand prize winners will receive fun prizes.
“What I’m Reading”
Share what you're reading this summer, and enter to win one of our great readers' gift baskets! For every book you read, fill out a “What I’m Reading" form. The top portion of the entry (without your name) will be used for summer reading display, while the bottom portion will be placed into a box for a themed, gift basket drawing. The basket themes are fiction, cooking, gardening, outdoors, and sports. At the end of the summer, winners will be drawn from all the entry forms for each gift basket.
