Neighborhood Program Project Grant (More than $1,000)

The goals of the Neighborhood Project Matching Grants are to promote networking between residents in order to bring neighbors together, promote positive communication between residents and City government, build the organizational capacity of recognized neighborhoods, and, encourage a physical improvement that encompasses and benefits a larger area of a neighborhood.  Physical projects build or enhance a feature of the neighborhood, benefit the general public and are within the City's legal authority to approve.

The 2017 Project Grant application period is currently closed. the next project grant cycle will be available in January 2018.  

Project Ideas

Eligible projects include:

  • Neighborhood Community Gardens
  • Outdoor play equipment installation/restoration
  • Neighborhood Bee-hive stations
  • Outdoor Neighborhood art and murals
  • Dog-waste bag canister installations
  • Neighborhood "Little Library" stations
  • Outdoor bus shelters and information kiosks
  • Cross walk flag stations 
  • Neighborhood "Block Watch" signs, and other important signs
  • Neighborhood BBQ shelters and outdoor BBQ equipment installation
  • Outdoor safety lighting
  • Outdoor dog park/run

To be eligible for the 2017 Neighborhood Project Grant, your neighborhood will need to have:

  • Registered as an "officially recognized" Renton neighborhood located within the City limits     
  • Participating in the City's Neighborhood Program
  • Have submitted an updated copy of your neighborhood bylaws
  • Have submitted an updated contact registry of your neighborhood leadership
  • Have submitted an updated boundary map of your neighborhood
