Teen Summer Reading Program 2009
Reading Program Details
WHO: Teens age 12 to 17
WHEN: June 22-August 30
HOW: Register for the program at either of Renton's libraries starting June 22, and pick up a free summer reading tracking card. For every hour of reading or listening to an audio book, mark your card. When you have marked off 15 hours, bring the card back to the library for your finishing prizes and an entry into the final prize drawing.

This summer, stop by the library to play Dance Dance Revolution, Guitar Hero 2, board games, bingo, sing karaoke, eat snacks, and have fun.
Teen Tuesdays at the Highlands Library

3:00 to 5:00p.m. - Highlands Library
School’s out for the summer! Come express yourself at the library by trying out some of our art projects (what can you make with duct tape?) or bring your own and share. Oh, yeah, and there will be free snacks and prizes, too.
Bead Swap and Jewelry Crafts for Teens
Thursday, July 9th,
2:00 to 4:00 p.m. - Main Library
We’ll provide the tools and supplies; and you provide the creativity. Make one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces, key chain fobs, and more. You can also bring your own beads to trade with each other. Call to Register: 425-430-6825.
Teen Manga Fest
Thursday, July 16th,
3:00 to 5:00 p.m - Main Library
You don’t even have to be an Otaku (anime fan) to enjoy this festival. Stop by the library for a day of all things Japanese. Dress up as your favorite Manga character; try your hand (or rather feet) at Dance Dance Revolution; watch an anime episode or two; share fan fiction and artwork; learn about Japanese culture, make candy sushi, and enjoy Japanese snacks.

Anime Club including a movie, “sweet sushi”, manga drawing, and all things Japan. Oh, yeah, and there will be free snacks, too.
Altered Book Craft for Teens
Thursday, August 6th,
2:00 to 4:00 p.m. - Main Library
You’d be surprised at what you can do with an old book. Using recycled library books, we will make original works of art or create a “new” book for a journal or sketchbook. All craft materials and tools will be provided. Call to Register: 425-430-6825.
