Bicycling Resources and Information

There are several programs within the City of Renton supporting bicycling as a means of healthy, active transportation.

 * The City of Renton Bicycle Route Development program (Bicycle Route Development Program – 2011-2016 TIP #29) formulated a master plan to identify and construct an integrated system of bicycle routes and trails and upgrade streets to better accommodate bicycles.  Many locations along existing and potential routes have site-specific issues, which would be addressed in this program.  A bicycle and trail map for the City of Renton was also developed in 2009.  For more information, contact Dan Hasty, 425-430-7217

* Valley Medical Center (VMC) offers fitted, affordable ($8 cash per helmet), bicycle helmets to children and adults at selected community events this spring and summer.  More information can be found on VMC's helmet program web page.

* King County Metro bicycle lockers (as shown in the banner photo at the top of the page) on a space-available basis may be rented from King County Metro Transit and are located at the Downtown Renton Transit Center (South 2nd Street and Burnett Avenue South) and the Renton Highlands Park & Ride (Edmonds Avenue NE and NE 16th Street).  The King County Metro Transit bicycle locker program is managed by the Bicycle Alliance of Washington, phone 206-224-9252.

* Bicycle facility and trail maps are available online from a variety of sources:
King County Department of Transportation - Road Services Division
Washington State Department of Transportation - Bicycle Paths and Trails
