Community Services Scholarship Program

Scholarship opportunities enable Renton residents, who would not otherwise have the opportunity, to participate in educational and recreational activities ranging from ballroom dancing, arts and crafts, sports, preschool, youth, and teen programs to adventures and explorations in science. Those eligible for scholarships must meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants must be City residents. Click here to see our Resident Policy.
  • There are limited numbers of scholarships for children who reside in the Renton School District, but are not within City limits. Funding for these scholarships is provided by the Sam Chastain Memorial Fund.
  • Scholarships are for everyone - children, adults, and elderly citizens.
  • For each recreation quarter, residents can receive one scholarship per family member. There is a maximum of $200 per family.
  • Extended travel at the Senior Activitiy Center is excluded.
  • Availability of scholarships is dependent upon funding. Sometimes the program has no funds. When funds are available, scholarships are given on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Have a household income that does not exceed the annual incomes in the table below. The amount of the scholarship is based on the household income.
