The Renton Police Department is a full service law enforcement agency with 148 personnel comprised of 120 sworn and 28 non-sworn. The Renton Police Department is accredited by Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC). Accreditation is a significant accomplishment and demonstrates a commitment to excellence. Our officers work very diligently to protect life and property, assist in the suppression of crime, apprehend criminals and enforce laws.
Partnership to Srengthen Community Relations
In an effort to build trust between law enforcement and the diverse communities in Renton, the Renton Police Department is partnering with different faith organizations including leaders representing local African-American pasters. As part of this effort, the African-American Pastors group and the City of Renton in partnership with the Renton School District will host Teen Summit: Improving Positive Relationships with Law Enforcement & Our Youth and Community, first of a series of community forums on June 20, from 10:00 am to noon at Renton High School. For more information about this event, please contact the Renton Police Department at 425-430-7500. Read more.
The Police Department in cooperation with private vendor, CrimeReports.com will be making available a crime mapping tool for public view and search. Effective October 2009, citizens may view police activity in the city based upon reported crime. The search parameters may be city-wide, by patrol district, neighborhood, date range and crime type. The interactive tool will be used to enhance the public’s knowledge about crime activity. Additionally, the Police Department is hoping to enhance our partnerships with the community and is asking the public to provide the department with any information that would assist in solving crimes.
