Police Department

The Renton Police Department is a full service law enforcement agency with 173 personnel comprised of 123 sworn and 50 non-sworn. The Renton Police Department enjoys the distinction of being one of only eight departments out of 250 in the State of Washington to be accredited by both the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC).  Accreditation is a significant accomplishment and demonstrates a commitment to excellence.  Our officers work very diligently to protect life and property, assist in the suppression of crime, apprehend criminals and enforce laws.

Alert: Burglary on the Rise

In recent months the number of residential burglaries throughout the region has risen dramatically, causing Renton Mayor Denis Law to ask citizens to be vigilant and protect their homes and neighborhoods from thieves.   If you see suspicious or criminal activity, the city strongly encourages people to call 911.  Read more

Crime Maps

Crime MapThe Police Department in cooperation with private vendor, CrimeReports.com will be making available a crime mapping tool for public view and search. Effective October 2009,  citizens may view police activity in the city based upon reported crime. The search parameters may be city-wide, by patrol district, neighborhood, date range and crime type. The interactive tool will be used to enhance the public’s knowledge about crime activity. Additionally, the Police Department is hoping to enhance our partnerships with the community and is asking the public to provide the department with any information that would assist in solving crimes.  Read the Frequently Asked Questions/Terms and Conditions.
