Project Information:
The project is located in the vacated Lake Avenue S right-of-way between S 2nd Street and S 3rd Street, mainly in the parking lots for Walker Renton Subaru Used Cars and Safeway grocery store.
The purpose of the project is to replace the City-owned 24-inch storm system pipe that runs through the parking lots and is in poor physical condition. The new storm system will consist of approximately 650 linear feet of a 30- to 36-inch pipe. Construction will be performed by a combination of open trenching and boring. Approximately 220 linear feet of open trenching will be performed at the southern and northern ends of the project. About 430 linear feet of the new pipe system will be installed in a steel casing that will be bored under the parking lots.
Construction is planned to start in the Walker Subaru Parking Lot and proceed to the northeast. A section in the middle of the Safeway parking lot will be fenced off and used for the material storage, and for several of the boring pits. All open trenches and boring pits will be filled after the work is completed. The existing asphalt parking lots and any other area disturbed for construction will be restored.
