2009 International Codes go into effect 7/1/2010.  This includes the IBC, IRC, IMC, IFC, UPC and 2008 NEC.  The 2009 Energy Code adoption has been postponed until 4/1/2011 by the Governor.

New Single Family Home -- Generally takes about two weeks for Plan Review

Adding on to Your Home or Adding a Garage/Shed/Carport -- About two weeks for Plan Review

Interior Changes to Your Home -- Generally takes about two weeks for Plan Review

New Commercial, Industrial or Multifamily Project -- Initial review takes about four weeks

Commercial Interior Remodel (Tenant Improvement) -- About two weeks for Plan Review

Auto Email Program for Permit Information

This program requires specific keywords and your permit number in order to respond to your request.
Items you can request:  Status of your permit, Inspection results, Fees, People names or all information associated with your Permit.

Email Address: Permitinfo@rentonwa.gov            

On the Subject line of your email type one of the following Keywords followed by your Permit Number.

Online Building Permits Now Available

The Department of Community and Economic Development is now offering online permits for simple mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work through the regional permitting portal, MyBuildingPermit.com.   Contractors and citizens can use the web portal to obtain any number of simple permits from member jurisdictions with a single transaction.  The site also provides access to a library of construction tip sheets, inspection check-lists, and other construction related resources.    Read the press release for more information.
