New Permitting System live as of November 5th, 2012

The City of Renton went live on November 5th with the EnerGov Permitting System.  We will eventually offer Online Permits, Land Use Actions, Business Licenses, Pet Licenses, Code Compliance Requests, Inspection Scheduling and much, much more.  For the first couple of weeks we will be focusing on our staff becoming comfortable with the system so that as these items become available online we will be able to help you should you have questions.

On November 5th we will start using a new Integrated Voice Response (IVR) system for scheduling inspections. This system is much easier than our old system with some major changes:
1. You must use an IVR number in place of your Permit Number to request an inspection.  A letter went out to all active permit holders notifying you of your new IVR Number.  If you didn't receive a letter and you need to schedule an inspection please call 425-430-7200 Opt 4, to get your IVR Number.
2. The deadline for scheduling your next day inspection will be midnight.
3. Inspections may be scheduled for up to five(5) days in advance.
4. You will have the option of choosing AM or PM but it is only a request and will depend on the Inspector's daily workload.
5. Utility Construction Permits will also be using this system and you will now call 425-430-7202 to request an inspection.
6. You can no longer leave your phone number or special instructions for the Inspector.  You must call the Inspector in the morning to leave this information.

Also starting soon, you will be able to do Permit and Land Use searches to look up history on a property.
Stay tuned to see what's happening on our new system.

Online Building Permits Now Available

The Department of Community and Economic Development is now offering online permits for simple mechanical, plumbing, and electrical work through the regional permitting portal, MyBuildingPermit.com.   Contractors and citizens can use the web portal to obtain any number of simple permits from member jurisdictions with a single transaction.  The site also provides access to a library of construction tip sheets, inspection check-lists, and other construction related resources.    Read the press release for more information.

Please Note:  *There will be a 3% Technology Surcharge added to all permit fees effective 11/5/10 at 5PM.
