Join us for a fun-filled community celebration packed with classic summer activities for all ages!

Enjoy delicious hot dogs and refreshments, play a variety of games in the Stars and Stripes Game Zone, cheer on participants competing in the Hot Dog Hustle 5K*, or have the kids participate in the Play Ball Baseball/Softball Challenge*. Oh yeah, top it all off at the Stars and Stripes Splash Zone* at the Henry Moses Aquatic Center while you listen to music that brings the park to life.  

This festive day will be a great way to celebrate with family and friends and connect with your neighbors. We look forward to celebrating with you. Let’s Go Renton!

*Hot Dog Hustle 5K (9-10:15 a.m.)

Hot Dog Hustle 5K (9 – 10:15 a.m.)  

The Hot Dog Hustle Fun Run and Walk is held at the Renton Community Center Campus. Runners and walkers travel along the paved beautiful Cedar River Trail before looping back to the Community Center Campus. At the end, participants can enjoy FREE HOT DOGS as we celebrate Independence Day. 

Competitive runners, fun runners, walkers, and families (with or without) dogs are all invited to this event. Accurate and professional chip timing is provided by Negative Split. If registered before 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, participants will receive a Hot Dog Hustle 5K t-shirt.

Stars & Stripes Game Zone (10 a.m.-1 p.m.)

Stars & Stripes Game Zone (10 a.m. – 1 p.m.) 

Open to all ages! Are you looking for some fun, and some friendly competition? Spend some time in the Stars & Stripes game zone. Come play cornhole, and other lawn games for all ages. Groove to the music of DJ Red, White, and BOOM! 

Baseball/Softball Play Ball Challenge (10 a.m.-1 p.m.)

  • Age 7-8 Division

Players will test their baseball and softball fundamentals in a fun, fast-paced skills challenge featuring hitting, throwing, and base running stations. Participants will compete in age-based groups while building confidence, having fun, and enjoying friendly competition in a positive supportive atmosphere. Awards and recognition will be given for top performances in each age category.  A surprise bonus skill challenge will be in play worth 25 bonus points. Play Ball! 

Ground Rules!

  • Current age at the time of the event. The child should register for the appropriate age division/sport based on what their age is on July 4th, 2026.
  • Please wear clothes that the player can be active in and comfortable moving around on the sports field. Sports shoes/cleats, hats, baseball/softball attire are encouraged.
  • Please bring a baseball/softball glove (labeled with name) and a bat if you have one. Gloves and bats will be available at site if needed. Bring a water bottle (labeled with name)
  • More information about the day of the event will be emailed out on June 29th, 2026. 
Hitting Challenge 

Players will hit off a tee and will have two warm up hits before they count towards the competition. The player will have a total of six hits that will count towards their score. Please see below the criteria for hitting zones and points. 

Throwing Challenge 

Players will test their accuracy by throwing a ball towards a target. The player will have two warm up throws before they count towards the competition. The player will have a total of five throws that will count towards their score. Please see below the criteria for throwing zones and points. 

Running Challenge 

A player’s speed will be measured at how fast they can run from home to first. All players will run at 90ft base path from home to first. Players will get two chances to run, and judges will take the best time from the two attempts.

Let’s eat! Is there a better way to celebrate our country’s 250th Independence Day than to enjoy BBQ Hot Dogs with your friends, family, and neighbors? Hot dogs and refreshments will be provided at no cost. Donations will be accepted supporting the Gift of Play program which funds Renton Parks and Recreation Departments Scholarships.

Celebrate USA's 250th birthday with the City of Renton's Stars, Stripes and Splash Event July 4th at the Henry Moses Aquatic Center. Special games and activities in the pool area during this specialty swimming time. The aquatic center will only be open to participants registered for this event. Wristband required for entry. Check in for the event will be at the front entrance of Henry Moses Aquatic Center, 1719 Maple Valley Highway, Renton WA 98057.
